Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Staff Accountant to join our dynamic accounting team. The Staff Accountant will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial health of our company by ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, managing day-to-day accounting tasks, and supporting the overall financial operations of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
- General Ledger Accounting:
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed assets.
- Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with accounting principles.
- Accounts Payable and Receivable:
- Process and review invoices, expense reports, and payment requests for accuracy and compliance.
- Manage accounts receivable, including invoicing, collections, and aging analysis.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
- Monitor budget variances and provide analysis to support decision-making.
- Compliance and Auditing:
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and relevant regulations.
- Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Financial Analysis:
- Perform financial analysis to support management in strategic planning and decision-making.
- Provide insights and recommendations based on financial performance and trends.
- Special Projects:
- Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by management.
- Support the implementation of new accounting systems, processes, and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA or working towards CPA certification is a plus.
- 2+ years of experience in accounting, preferably in property management or real estate industry.
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Yardi, QuickBooks, MRI) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
